The PAI is the national association for sport parachuting in the Republic of Ireland. The Association sets and maintains standards for safety, training and operations. It is affiliated to the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI) through the National Aviation Council of Ireland and to the European Parachute Union (EPU). It operates under the rules laid down by the Irish Aviation Authority.

The PAI promotes Sport Parachuting at National and International levels, sets standards relating to safety, training and operations for sport parachuting. It has currently two affiliated Parachute Centre/Club and issues certifications and ratings to members.

The PAI represents Irish Sport Parachuting at National and International levels and organises competitive Skydiving and Parachuting events at National level.
